2020 Economic Development Breakfast

Nomination Form

Please nominate a business or individual you feel exemplifies one of the following award categories. The process is simple - fill out the form below and your nomination will be submitted to the Chambersburg Chamber. Thank you!

Property Improvement (multiple categories)

The purpose of the Property Improvement Awards is to recognize Chamber members for outstanding real estate improvement completed in 2019 in these areas:            

  • Construction or Rehabilitation up to $150,000
  • Construction or Rehabilitation $150,000 - $500,000
  • Construction or Rehabilitation $500,000 - $1M
  • Construction or Rehabilitation $1M - $5M
  • Construction or Rehabilitation $5M - $10M
  • Construction or Rehabilitation over $10M
  • Historic Preservation

Several professionals from the construction industry will visit the project sites in early April to assist in the review process; please make yourself available. Projects entered within a specific category may be re-categorized by the committee based on the project’s cost for the purposes of judging.

 Eligibility: Candidate must be a member of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce for a minimum of one calendar year.

Judging Criteria:

Each entry must include an overview of the project including total cost of the project (include all materials, labor, subcontractor and other related costs), project start and end date, contributors to the project (architects, suppliers, sub-contractors, etc), the reason for the project and photos of before/after. You may also wish to address one or more of the following:

  • Design and use of space
  • Degree of difficulty
  • Workmanship and quality of construction
  • Appropriateness to surrounding/existing structure(s)
  • Effect on neighborhood/community
  • Overall economic impact on community

Environmental Sustainability

The Environmental Sustainability Award recognizes a business or nonprofit organization whose operations, processes or products reflect adherence to the principles of ethical, economic and environmental sustainability.

 

Eligibility: Candidate must be a member of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce for a minimum of one calendar year.

 

Judging Criteria:

Discuss in detail how this business or nonprofit adheres and subscribes to sustainable practices. Specifically address the practices referenced below, and any others that may apply:

 

  • Waste management policies and practices
  • Recycling practices
  • Use of renewable energy resources
  • Protection and conservation of natural resources such as air, water, soil, etc.
  • Pollution reduction practices
  • Wilderness and wetland stewardship efforts
  • Practice and promotion of sustainable agriculture
  • Promotion of sustainable lifestyles and quality of life
  • Food security and farmland preservation efforts
  • Environmentally friendly designs of facilities (buildings, roadways, etc.)

The Downtowner Award
  • The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual, organization or business whose dedication and enthusiasm has improved downtown Chambersburg in one or more of the following areas: organizational development, economic vitality, design, promotions/marketing or safe-clean-green.

    Eligibility: Candidate’s company must be a member of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce for a minimum of one calendar year (exception for retirees) or be involved as a current volunteer, member or financial contributor to Downtown Chambersburg, Inc.

     Judging Criteria:

     Represents downtown Chambersburg in a positive manner and serves as a positive role model in the community;

    • Demonstrates commitment to the downtown revitalization strategy in one or more of the following areas:
      • Downtown organizational development  
      • Economic vitality (improving assets and/or overall economic conditions)
      • Design (improving building facades, planning/zoning or streetscapes)
      • Promotions/marketing (facilitating special events and/or communications campaigns)
      • Safe-Clean-Green (facilitating projects that improve safety, cleanliness, or improving the environment)

Economic Development Breakfast

The breakfast will feature a presentation of awards including property improvement, a keynote address and a small-scale developers panel discussion.
