The club will be held every Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 26 N. Commerce St, Chambersburg PA from 6:30pm - 7:30pm through August 25th.  The club is located downstairs in the Library.  Everyone is welcome and the more, the merrier!

Laughter Yoga is a unique approach to fun, healing, and stress management.  It’s a unique idea where anyone can laugh for no reason.  Laughter Yoga is a technique that blends playful, empowering and “tension releasing” laughter exercises with Pranayama yoga breathing, which improves your sense of well-being.  These exercises are simple, structured, and based on a philosophy of JOYFULNESS!  There is no need for previous experience, special equipment, or special clothing to practice the exercises.

Laughter is well known to be the “best medicine” and here’s why: it’s scientifically proven that laughter boosts the immune system, is a powerful cardio workout, relaxes your muscles and unwinds the negative effects of stress. Laughter also elevates your mood, increases blood circulation, releases endorphins which relieves pain, decreases anxiety, fights depression, improves communication skills, and social relationships.  With the Laughter Yoga club you maximize the benefits of laughter by sharing hearty, extended laughter with others in a safe, joyful environment.

The Laughter Yoga club is coordinated by Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher, Cathy Hansen of Laugh N Live Well.  The Laughter Yoga club is a non-profit, non-religious, non-political and non-competitive community-based assembly of diverse people where all are welcome regardless of age, gender, and physical abilities; social or economic backgrounds. There are currently over 6,000 Laughter Clubs in 63 countries around the world. Over 350 of these clubs are in the United States. 

The good news is everyone can laugh. You don’t need to have a sense of humor, you don’t need to feel good first, you don’t have to be happy and you don’t need reason to laugh.

It is purely a physical method, not a mental practice. Anybody can do it because there is nothing required and nothing to understand. It does not matter where you come from, what language you speak or how challenged or stressed you may be.


The Laughter Club is not about jokes or comedy and no one is ever put down in any way, shape or form. It is just a place where you will maximize health benefits by sharing hearty, extended laughter with others and you will leave feeling refreshed and invigorated.

Laughing with others is a great way to build bridges and to promote peace in the community. Besides feeling great, our social and communication skills are improved, our spirits are lifted and we feel more self-confident and JOYFUL.

And if that isn’t enough, research has proven that ONE MINUTE of hearty laughter is equal to TEN MINUTES of jogging!
