A month and a half of summer Wednesday mornings will be filled with discovery for area children who attend Renfrew Institute’s program, “Nose to Nose With Nature.”  Designed for children completing grades K–3, the program will be held from 9:30–11 a.m., on Wednesdays June 23 through July 28, at Renfrew Park in Waynesboro.      

The program explores nature’s best spots in the park with Renfrew Institute environmental instructor, Stephanie “Firefly” Kober. “This is a fun opportunity to check out those weird, wild, wonderful creatures and plants that help make our life on earth possible,” Kober said. Tools like magnifying lenses, bug boxes, and make-your-own “nature’s kaleidoscopes,” plus stories, secret missions, music and games will add to the fun and adventure. Participants should bring old sneakers for wading in the creek.

The cost is $4 per child per session for Renfrew Institute members, and $5 per child per session, non-members. (Membership information is available at www.renfrewinstitute.org or by calling 717-762-0373.) Children may attend one or more sessions. Pre-registration is not required. Those wishing to attend should meet at the visitors center at Renfrew Park.
